Everything you need to know to get the most out of Web2Markdown.

Getting Started

    Install the extension

    Visit the Chrome Web Store and click "Add to Chrome".

    Pin the extension

    Click the puzzle icon in Chrome's toolbar → find Web2Markdown → click the pin icon.

    Export your first page

    Navigate to any web page, click the Web2Markdown icon in the toolbar, then click "Export Page".

Core Features

Full Page Export

Click the extension icon on any page → "Export Page". The entire article or page content is converted to clean Markdown and copied to your clipboard.

Selection Export

Highlight any text on a page → right-click → "Export Selection to Markdown". Only the selected content is exported — useful for grabbing specific sections.

YAML Frontmatter Pro

Automatically prepend YAML frontmatter to exported Markdown. Configure fields like title, url, date, and custom fields in Settings → Frontmatter.

Batch Export Pro

Export multiple open tabs at once. Click the extension icon → "Export All Tabs". All pages are exported and bundled for download.

Settings

Access settings by clicking the extension icon → gear icon (⚙️) in the top-right of the popup.

Output FormatChoose Markdown or plain text output.
FrontmatterEnable/disable and customize YAML fields.
ImagesInclude or exclude images in the export.
License KeyEnter your Pro license key to activate Pro features.

Tips & Tricks

  • Use the keyboard shortcut Alt+Shift+M to export the current page instantly.
  • For best results on article pages, scroll to the top before exporting.
  • On pages with paywalls, export only works on the visible/unlocked content.
  • The clipboard is cleared after 2 minutes for security — paste your Markdown promptly.
